The vital ingredient of an efficient and economical Independent Power Supply System is the battery. It must be able to provide a long life in continual discharge/recharge applications over a wide temperature range and with minimum maintenance. The Federal Solar Series of wet/flooded cell 6 and 12 volt batteries and the Gel-Tech sealed gel technology batteries in the 6 and 12 volt sizes, provide the best answer in the critical cost to performance question.

New super-insulating, micro-porous, polyethylene envelope separators protect the plates, eliminate short circuits and dramatically extend life
Positive plates are glass wrapped, similar to motive power industrial batteries. The glass fibres imbed themselves into the surface of the plate to add reinforcement ....like "re-bars" in concrete. This reduces plate shedding and extends life
Optimised balance of crucial active material on the plates means the battery works harder and lives longer
The amount of active material on the positive plate has been increased for added performance and life

The Federal Solar Series of valve regulated, gelled electrolyte batteries is designed to offer reliable, maintenance free power for renewable energy applications where frequent deep cycles are required and minimum maintenance desirable. They are lead acid storage batteries using a sulphuric acid thixotropic gel electrolyte, lead calcium plate allow and recombinant technique to replace oxygen and hydrogen normally lost in a flooded cell battery. They are pressurised and sealed using special valves and should never be opened. They are non spillable and completely maintenance free with correct charging. Expect up to 3 times the cycle life of the traditional wet cell battery.
